Let's Roll

My name is Chris Johnson and I launched Meaningful Werks in 2012 with the original goal of providing an entity to support my varied interests in any number of things from songwriting and music to software, technology and computer programming.

Early in my career I worked as a software engineer at a couple of software startups. Following that, I worked in the Information Technology sector as a technology consultant. Like most careers, I gradually accepted additional responsibilities. This led to senior management and leadership roles with iconic brands such as the Miller Brewing Co (then MillerCoors) as well as the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

Life as a leader in Fortune 500 companies is fast paced, and requires a significant commitment of both personal and professional time. While I loved the brands and many of the people I was fortunate to have worked with and learned from, I also learned that being tied to a single brand or product can lead to life in a bubble. As a technologist, this can be detrimental to your livelihood. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In 2017, after enduring several years of cuts and re-orgs, I chose to semi-retire from IT and return to my tech roots - my passion for building software. My focus these days is on full stack development and machine learning engineering using Python and open-source advanced analytic platforms like Pyspark.

In addition to being a self-employed contract programmer/analyst, I also moonlight as a rock guitarist and karate Renshi.

Thanks for your interest in Meaningful Werks, and please stop by from time to time to keep up to date on our progress.

Facta non verba. You won't find me on LinkedIn. It became a one way romance. Here's the best article I've found for why I killed my linkedin account. I did save my references however... ;)
